Dental Implants: The Best Solution for Missing Teeth

A dental implant is an effective option to replace a missing tooth. In this procedure, a small titanium screw is surgically implanted into the bone and allowed to set. The bone grows around it, forming a tight connection that additionally slows or stops the bone loss that occurs when the root of a natural tooth is missing. Once the implant is firmly set in the mouth, the dentist then works to attach the replacement tooth onto the top of the implant. Additionally, for those considering alternatives, implant supported dentures provide another option to restore functionality and aesthetics.

Dental implants are considered to be the most important advance in dentistry in the past 100 years. They allow us to predictably replace missing teeth in a very esthetically pleasing manner without compromising the integrity of the adjacent teeth and without the aid of removable appliances.

Implants can also be used as support for an implant bridge, which serves as a great alternative to partial dentures and offers several advantages. First, patients do not need an adjustment period; once the work is complete, they only feel natural teeth instead of metal supports intruding into the mouth. Second, implant supported dentures help slow down the bone loss that occurs with missing teeth. Third, there is no discomfort or difficulty in eating. Best of all, they don't have to be taken out, making them a convenient option to replace missing teeth.

Implant supported dentures offer a cost-effective solution for those looking to replace missing teeth. These dentures can be securely anchored in place with implants, resulting in a significant improvement over traditional removable dentures.
